Streetwatch has now been active in Bedfordshire for over 8 years and its volunteer numbers continue to grow. The volunteers have been supporting our local police teams across the county helping to deter anti-social behaviour and their visible presence is assisting in the fight against crime. As we head into 2019 our volunteers will be out and about taking part in various operations such as Operation Sceptre, a fight against knife crime and Operation Beneke which aims at addressing community concerns. This type of engagement initiative is so important as the Streetwatch volunteers assist the Police in building good relationships within the community.
At present Bedfordshire have over 10 schemes of active volunteers and in the next few months there will be new schemes starting in Great Denham in Bedford and also the Wigmore area of Luton.
