Street Watch Havering has now been  successfully running for over a year. The scheme involves residents wearing high visibility jackets and walking their local streets.

Each volunteer is police checked before they can join the scheme, is asked to read and sign the observers guide and  take part in a short induction programme. All members are covered by  public liability insurance.

If you are suitable you could become a member and work alongside your local police service.

If you would like more information please contact Sally Miller, Havering Street Watch, 079343 72674 or swhavering@btinternet.com

"Street watch is a fantastic scheme that has been running successfully in other parts of the country, and we are very proud to be the first within the Metropolitan Police Service to launch it within Havering borough. This is a long term crime prevention initiative that empowers residents to get back the community cohesion that has been lacking for so long. It will enable members to identify vulnerable neighbours and tackle any street care issues that they may come across. In all, the members will be patrolling their streets, working in partnership with their local Safer Neighbourhood Team, with the vision of bringing the community together and making our streets safer for everyone"
